Salted Caramel Dipping Sauce

caramel 3This is not healthy but it is INCREDIBLE!!!! Eat it with fresh apples dipped in it, on a spoon or with a pudding.

Here goes:

You will need

1 cup of sugar (eeeekkkkk)caramel 1

1/4 cup of water (water is healthy – fact!)

3/4 cup of cream (double eeeekkk)caramel 8

3 1/2 tablespoons of butter (triple eeekkkk)

1 teaspoon of good quality salt – we used Cornish rock salt and crushed it into smaller crystalscaramel 2

In a saucepan heat the sugar and water together over a medium heat until all the sugar is dissolved.caramel 7 Increase the heat and bring to the boil.

caramel 6Allow it to boil for about 5 mins (no stirring) until it is a deep amber colour.

Remove from the heat and carefully (its bl@”dy hot) stir in the cream, butter and salt (if it bubbles up, this is ok)!

Put in a clean jar and leave to cool.

Taste A LOT to make sure it tastes ok………… retest x 15

Apparently it keeps for two weeks – NO CHANCE it’s a goner!!

  2. Thanks team Pugh!!! That looks brilliant and I will try it tonight. It’s really useful to have the photos cos cooking something without stirring sounds a bit strange but if you and the pics say its not a misprint it’s real that’s how I’ll do it!
