blondie 5So today is Mammar’s birthday and we thought we would make her a little cake so…..we chose pecan blondies (now the title makes sense)!

We decided to cook these blondies for the same amount of time as we cook Jenny’s brownies for (which is 22 minutes in our oven) but next time we will do them for less as they have come out a little on the cakey side, but are still delicious.

So preheat your oven to 190c.

Melt 1/2 a cup of butter, put in a bowl with a cup of dark brown sugar and mix well.

blondie 3Add a dash or two of vanilla essence and an egg and then whisk. blondie 2Add half a teaspoon of baking powder, 1/8 teaspoon of baking powder, a cup of plain flour (we used strong bread flour). blondie 4Whisk again and add 1/3 cup of crushed pecans and…… mix well. blondie 6Bake for approximately 15 – 20 minutes, remove from oven, cool, slice into squares and enjoy!
