A ‘Smashing’ good day

Well today marked the first day of early rising and breakfasting – we can announce it was a huge success! We arose out of bed, got up, made breakfast (ok, it was only toast but the bread was homemade and we are very proud of ourselves)! Ian and Lizzie ate their fill with the same expression on their face, the face that says ‘I’m here but I’m actually still asleep’ and then Ian left for work. It was all going soooo well until SMASH – Ian drove the car into the wheelie bin and smashed the light! Oops!

So Becksie had a very productive time, got all the cleaning done, spoke to Grannie (of the Pugh variety) on the phone, sat down for a coffee and realised it was only 9.17am! Amazing!!

Becksie then tried to go in the loft and SMASH broke the loft ladder! OOPPPS She then hoovered up and broke the hoover belt!

A brief text conversation with Jenny lead to a very impromptu wreath making session with Jenny and Vicki that turned out to be an extreme amount of fun – including a foliage dash, an orange / apple drying session and three baby girls having a great time together! We have been promised photos of the wreaths in situ tomorrow so definitely come back to see them!

To dry the oranges et al - slice thinly place on a wire rack in a baking tray and dry for several hours in a low oven or on top of a wood burning stove or aga!

So when the ladies left Becksie cleaned up and SMASH broke a plate! OOPS!

Rescued from the threat of the dustbin! This is now our weeks fruit - not a penny spent and loads of money saved !

Ian then returned home with loads of free food that he rescued after a buffet and some amazing FREE olives that he we have been given by @openairfoods – they are lovely and we’d like to say a huge thanks and should you get the chance go and buy some!

Leah then arrived to eat some free food and brought along a little gift of free slippers for Becksie – there’s only one word: SMASHING!

  1. LOVING the slippers! I want some as cute as that. And am now inspired to try drying out oranges and apples again. I tried it a few years ago, but can;t have dried them enough as they went a bit mouldy…!
